Vietnamese Baked Pork Spring Roll

This amazing Spring roll recipe will fill your belly to the brim. The combination of the vegetables and pork just gives this savory note to every bite you take. This is a healthier alternative to the deep frying method.

Yields: Makes 4 Servings 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 packaging Spring roll wrappers 
  • 2 tbsps. Flour 
  • 2 tbsps. Vegetable oil 

To make the spring roll filling:

  • 1 tbsp. Oyster sauce 
  • 2 Spring Onions, finely diced 
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced 
  • 2 medium Carrots, shredded 
  • ½ a head of Cabbage, shredded 
  • 1 tbsp. Vegetable oil 
  • 1 pound Ground pork 
  • 1 tbsp. Fresh ginger, minced 
  • 1 tbsp. Soy sauce 
  • Pepper to taste

Method of Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. 
2. In a small bowl with the flour. Combine with water and combine until it turns into a white liquid.       Then set aside. 
3. In a plate separate the bulked up spring roll wrappers in another plate. 
    To make the spring roll filling: 
4. In a large wok (or large pan) over medium heat. Add the oil and cook the pork until the turn brown.     Throw in the cabbage and carrots and sauté until the cabbage and carrots are tender. Cook for             about 5-7 minutes 
5. In the same wok, add in the rest of the ingredients and cook until all the liquid is combined with         the pork mixture. 
6. Set-aside in a bowl and chill for at least an hour before making the filled spring roll. (You chill it to     form the filling easier in the spring roll.) 
7. Now with the plate where you separated the spring roll wrappers. Place a wrapper on the plate. Put    a heaping spoonful of the filling about 1 inch away from the end. Pull the two sides of the wrapper      and push them towards the filling. With the flour paste paint the front end of the wrapper then pull      it up and towards the filling while pushing it inwards making a tight roll. And repeat this process         until you finished all of your filling. 
8. With a brush, Coat it with the vegetable oil and brush the rolls
9. In a baking pan, Line the spring rolls 1 inch away from each other and bake them for 1517                   minutes. 
10 Choose your favorite dipping sauce and serve the rolls while they are still hot! Enjoy!
